Chicago Bears Season Recap

by derek on January 7, 2009

The Chicago Bears season has come and gone, much to the chagrin of fans all across the area who believe that their favorite team let an ideal opportunity slip through their fingers.

As it turned out, had the Chicago Bears simply taken care of business on the final week of the season – rather than worrying about what the Minnesota Vikings were doing in their game – they would have made it to the playoffs. What would have happened there is anybody’s guess, but at least they would have had a chance.

With the end of the season comes speculation as to what will – and should – happen next.

Will this be the end of Bob Babich?

Doubtful.

What will be the draft priority?

Hmm, how about a wide receiver.

Is Kyle Orton the quarterback that the Chicago Bears need?

Possibly.

We all like to put on our General Manager hats and examine what it is that we think our favorite team needs to put them over the edge – what they need to still be playing on the football field as opposed to the golf course. The Chicago Bears have a handful of concerns to address, many of which are on the defensive side of the ball considering how often this defensive-minded football team fell apart.

Even though the Chicago Bears have missed the playoffs, die-hard fans are still tossing on their Bears gear and lamenting over what could have been. So don’t forget to check out the latest in Chicago Bears gifts for that special person in your life.

I think they are a favorite to take the nfc north this year. The conference itself is very weak and with the addition of Jay Cutler, there is no doubt in my mind that they bears should be the favorite to win this year.

Absolutely; with the addition of Cutler you have to move the Bears up as the favorite to win the North. It will be interesting to see how much he improves the play of the receivers, and how the defense will fare with an offense that should be able to minimize the 3-and-outs.

It amazes me when you look back at that draft class the top 3 qb’s taken have all faced adversity. Vince Young and Matt Leinhart both looks like career backups at best, and Cutler is getting a fresh start where he can hopefully flourish. It just goes to show you how the draft can go. Nobody is a sure thing.

I’m sure the 49ers are thinking that right now as they face a draft pick that is threatening to sit out the entire season and re-enter the draft next year. The Bears have had their share of busts in the higher picks of the draft as well.

At least they are no lions when it comes to drafting. It seems like half the people they drafted were busts. I wonder how that Joey Harrington to Charles Rogers combo is working for them.

It is amazing to me that Crabtree ended his holdout. Hopefully the bears get the better end of this Gained Adams trade.

The football world cup is fast approaching. Expect dramas and controversy like the “hand of frog” incident

Maybe 2011 could be the Bears year. They have certainly wasted some great chances
to win a Super Bowl over the last few years.
